What are Grasshoppers Tournaments?
- A new ongoing competition pathway for kids not yet able to play regular tennis on a full size court
- GHT provides kids with a new way to start playing tennis
- Competition at appropriate level for beginners and with appropriate equipment and rules
- Very large untapped market with few structured modified programmes in NZ
- Opportunity to engage with children and their parents in a safe, family sport for life

Grasshoppers Tournaments (GHT) provide opportunities for beginning children at all levels:
RED STAGE - (5-7 years of age) - Beginners

Mini Courts
Singles Only
Matches are 5 mins each
5 min break after 5 matches
Number of matches per court - 6
ORANGE STAGE - (6-8 years of age) - Advanced

Medium balls - 50%
Mini Court - half court
Singles and doubles
Normal play points - serve can be overarm or underarm
Matches are 7 mins each
7 min break after 5 matches
Number of matches per court 2 (4 if back court used)
GR EEN STAGE - (7+ years of age) - Transition
Transition balls - 75%
3/4 court (or full court)
Singles and doubles
Normal scoring - sudden death deuce
Matches are 10-15 mins
5 min break after each match
