Tennis New Zealand will be presenting the new Tennis New Zealand High Performance (HP) Player Development Strategy throughout the country in a number of presentations from October 2013, with the document now available to the Tennis Community.
The new Tennis New Zealand HP Player Development Strategy involves moving to a Targeted Athlete approach. The Elite Targeted Athletes will be selected and announced early December 2013 and the Development Targeted Athletes will be named at the end of January 2014 following the summer block of National Events. Tennis New Zealand considers this strategy will have increased impact on performance, with resources available assisting a smaller group of targeted players - those that have the realistic goal of reaching an international ATP/WTA ranking of 150 in the future.
A number of tournaments have been identified as events that Tennis New Zealand’s HP Coaches will attend to observe Players and Competition. This will assist the Tennis New Zealand Junior Selectors in confirming the Junior Targeted Athletes
