Tennis in New Zealand is entering into a new and exciting phase. Our sport continues to thrive in many areas and there are many positives. Player participation is increasing - particularly in the numbers of juniors joining clubs. The world rankings of our senior and junior players are improving markedly as they compete on the international stage.

Tennis New Zealand has designed the Club Toolkit to provide support to the many people involved in tennis clubs in New Zealand and continue the positive experiences for the tennis community. These “valued” volunteers and employees are the heartland of our sport and this toolkit is provided as a support mechanism to these people.

This support will be enhanced by Regional Development Staff whose key focus will be to “increase the number of people participating in tennis by supporting clubs to provide quality programmes and experiences.”

The information provided in this Club Toolkit by Tennis NZ has been developed in consultation with the six regional centres of Tennis NZ, various clubs throughout New Zealand, SPARC (through - Club Kit), Harbour Sports (through Jo Clarke, Club Advisor for the Club Mark programme at Tennis North Harbour), Tennis Australia and the ITF.

The information provided has been placed into eight key strategic performance areas:
