ITF Junior Event Support
Tennis NZ provides ITF Junior Support for NZ players who are compete in main draw singles of a Group 3 or higher ITF Junioir Tournament. The support is to assist those junior players who have achieved high enough ITF junior rankings to gain acceptance into the singles main draw of Group 3 or above ITF junior tournaments overseas.
The ITF Junior Event Support is available to players over and above than those selected in the Transitional Player Support Scheme. To receive assistance players must participate in the main draw singles and enter into the standard agreement with Tennis NZ (see “Player Responsibilities” below).
Players can invoice TNZ at the conclusion of competing in the tournament using a claim form
ITF Junior Event Support for NZ Passport Holders (all figures in NZ$):
- Acceptance Main Draw Singles of a Group 3 event - $200 (in Australia $100)
- Acceptance Main Draw Singles of a Group 2 event $300 (in Australia $200)
- Acceptance Main Draw Singles of a Group 3 Event into Group 1 event $500 (in Australia $375)
- Acceptance Main Draw Singles of a Group A event $1,000 (in Australia $500)
- Acceptance Main Draw Singles of a Group B1 event $750
- Acceptance Main Draw Singles of a Group B2 event $300
Additional Support Junior Grand Slam Events
Tennis NZ will contribute NZ$1000 towards the cost of a coach for each junior Grand Slam tournament (NZ$750 for the Australian Open) if Tennis NZ does not send an official coach to the Grand Slam. This support is available to any player (not just Tiered players) who makes the main draw of any Junior Grand Slam singles event. *Conditions apply
Maximum Amount of Support per year
The annual level of support per player, in any one year, for the above assistance is capped at NZ$5,000.
Player Responsibilities
Any eligible player wishing to take advantage of any of the above support is required to enter into a contractual agreement with Tennis NZ and will be obliged to:
- Sign the standard contract with Tennis NZ based on the details set out in this section.
- Account financially for the expenditure of grants received.
- Except for US College players, be available for selection in national teams in the year of receiving assistance and the following year.
- Except for US College players during the 2 main college semesters, play in all international events in New Zealand appropriate to the player’s current ranking including all ATP/WTA Tour and ITF Women’s/Men’s Circuit tournaments.
- Unless ranked 150 or better in the men, or 100 or better in the women, play in the NZ Residential Championships or its equivalent, unless they are playing in a higher level international tournament.
- At all times act in a manner that is appropriate for a tennis player representing New Zealand.
- Accept the responsibilities outlined in the Tennis NZ Doping Policy and Code of Conduct.
- Junior Players must: compete in the appropriate age group national event unless granted a dispensation by Tennis NZ, compete in ITF junior events in New Zealand unless their ranking is such that they are playing higher level events overseas
