New Zealand’s Cameron Norrie reached the quarterfinals of the Grade 2 ITF Junior Tournament in France last week. Norrie lost in the quarterfinals to eventual winner Luke Bambridge (GBR) 2-6 6-2 3-6.



In the girls singles, fellow Kiwi Emily Fanning (below) was second seed and easily won her first round match against Laura Tanfin of France 6-2 6-1. In her second round match against Darya Kasatkina (RUS) she won the first set 6-2 but then rolled her ankle during the second set which forced her to retire.



Emily has been forced to sit out this week’s Grade 1 event in France but looking to get back on court as soon as possible in the lead up to the French Open. Meanwhile Norrie suffered a first round loss to Alexandre Grigaut (FRA) in straight sets overnight.

Norrie is in the main draw doubles with partner Lukas Mugevicius (LTU) with their first round match not yet played.

Meanwhile, in Australia at the Grade 4 ITF event, Nick Brown (NZL) reached the third round of the singles and quarterfinals of the doubles with partner Harry James. Fellow Kiwis Ryan Henderson and Olly Sadler also reached the doubles quarterfinals.

In the girls, Louise Oxnevad reached the quarterfinals before losing to eventual winner Ellen Perez (AUS) 6-4 6-3 while top seed Danielle Feneredis (NZL) was forced to retire during her singles quarterfinal against Sara Tomic (AUS).
