New Zealand’s Marvin Barker and doubles partner Adam El Mihdawy (USA) are through to the doubles semi-finals at the US$10,000 Men’s Futures in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The top seeded pair beat Australian’s Yuri Bezeruk and Matheson Klein 6-3 7-6(3) in the quarterfinals to set up a semi-final against fourth seeds Miguel-Angel Reyes-Varela and Bruno Rodriguez (MEX).
In the singles, Barker bowed out in the second round against his doubles partner El Mihdawy 2-6 2-6.
Fellow Kiwi Marcus Daniell has won his first round match agsint eight seed James Marsalek (GBR) 6-3 6-2 at the US$10,000 Men’s Futures in Ramat Hasharon, Israel.
In the doubles Daniell and partner Ti Chen (TPE) easily won their first round match and are through to the quarterfinals of the doubles. The pair face Mor Bulis and Edan Leshem (ISR) in the quarters.
Meanwhile in Thailand at the US$10,000 Men’s Futures, Rubin Statham (NZL) met Nick Lindalh (AUS) for the third time in less than a month. The two played each other twice in Veitnam where the Kiwi won both times. This time around Lindahl won 2-6 6-7(4) in the second round.
Fellow Kiwi Logan MacKenzie won through three rounds to qualifyfor the main draw at the same event. Mackenize lost to American Tyler Hochwalt 2-6 2-6 in the first round.
Statham and MacKenzie paired up in the doubles. After reaching the quarterfinals, the pair lost against top seeds Weerepat Doakmaiklee (THA) and Hiroki Kondo (JPN) 4-6 2-6.
