Storytime with Agassi and Graf

25/06/2012 12:31:36 p.m.

Over the past few weeks we’ve featured stories and articles on 10 and Under Tennis (10U).  This week, we have a great video courtesy of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) in which the legendary Tennis duo show their support for the advantages of smaller courts, shorter racquets and lower bouncing balls in kids tennis.

Agassi’s quote below really reinforces the importance of using modified equipment.  Children aren’t missing out or being held back by using different equipment to adults.  In fact they are able to learn and improve with far more ease as the equipment is relative to their size and strength.  The biggest draw from the child and parents point of view is the enjoyment factor of being able to play the game from the get go.

“10-and-Under tennis gives children the opportunity to experience authentic court movement, swing patterns and game strategy. It is real tennis and a step in the right direction to getting more young kids involved in the game that I love,” said Agassi.

We will be featuring 10U tennis every week in our Passing Shots newsletter, on our website and as part of our Facebook page.  Remember, if you have any stories for us, we’d love to hear them.  Email jenny@tennisnz.com
