Some of the visitors gather around the club

The weather was perfect in the South Canterbury area for Come Play! Tennis Open Day at three of our clubs Wai-iti, Highfield and Hilton/Geraldine.

Hilton/Geraldine just north of Timaru, was almost standing-room only, with around 30 juniors, and another 30 adults, including a number of new people attracted by the local publicity!

A very vibrant and enthusiastic committee oversaw things, and refreshments were available to replenish the energy for more time on the court.
Keith and Sam Lane ran games for the youngsters, and there was good interaction and atmosphere, smiles all round, and pledges of new membership from a number of the visitors!

Tennis South Canterbury Development Officer, Tony Brosnahan was pleased with the response from the local community.
"With only a small population to choose from, to get 60 new visitors to the tennis club was a huge result. It was standing room only at one stage" Brosnahan enthused.

Wai-iti Tennis Club also received newcomers to the clubs with a few visitors, club officials and the Club Coach, Kane Newland, who took a clinic with some of the guests.

Highfield Tennis Club also had a small gathering, with club officials including Club Coach Mark Offen, who earlier in the day ran a Grasshoppers tournament for 15 youngsters.
