Kiwis tennis player, Marina Erakovic is the eighth seed at the US$640,000 Bank of the West Classic, Stanford WTA event in California this week.
Erakovic who entered the tournament with a ranking of 49 takes on qualifier Jana Juricova (SVK) in the first round.
Erakovic teams up with Great Britain's Heather Watson in the doubles and faces Erika Sema (JPN) and Sesil Karatantcheva (KAZ) in the opening round.
Top seed for the tournament is Wimbledon champion Serena Williams followed by top 10 player Marion Bartoli.
